Experimental / Elecropunk / Synth Pop / Electro thrash
Compact Disk Dummies are a Belgian musical act formed by brothers Janus and Lennert Coorevits, 18 and 20 respectively. When I was first approached by the band, I’m not gonna lie, I was expecting boy band material. But I could not have been more mistaken. Despite not being even legal in some countries, I’d have to say that their youth does shows in their music but is vastly overshadowed by their potential. Having just started their musical career, most musicians would try to play safe and gain a secure fan base first. These brothers however, are pretty merciless when it comes to being experimental in their genre. I would even go so far to say that in tracks like FAT FRAZURZZ, their sound mirrors that of Crystal Castles.
Fans of low-res electro thrash will definitely wanna hear more from these guys. However, these guys sure know how to diversify. Their track The Reeling features boyish vocals with electronic noise and pop hooks resulting in a track much like Hot Chip being remixed by Four Tet.
Okay I’m writing in hyperboles here but it’s hard not to get excited over young artists that aren’t afraid to experiment with their genre and frankly do justice by it. And let’s face it, anything that even comes close to Alice Glass is pretty much audioporn. If you like what you’ve heard so far, support these guys at their soundcloud here.
